the four fees every seller pays
Etsy charges four distinct fees on every sale. Most sellers undercount them and end up with less margin than expected.
listing fee
$0.20 per listing, charged when you publish or renew a listing. Auto-renews every 4 months if not sold. For a $10 product, this is 2% of revenue before a single sale.
transaction fee
6.5% of the sale price (including shipping). This is Etsy's cut of your revenue. On a $19 product with $0 shipping: $1.24 to Etsy.
payment processing fee
3% + $0.25 per transaction (for US sellers via Etsy Payments). On a $19 sale: $0.82. This varies by country — UK sellers pay 4% + £0.20, for example.
real example: $19 digital download
Sale price: $19.00
Listing fee: -$0.20
Transaction fee: -$1.24 (6.5%)
Payment proc.: -$0.82 (3% + $0.25)

Net payout: $16.74 (88.1%)
offsite ads fee (if enrolled)
If Etsy drives a sale through their offsite ads, they charge an additional 15% (or 12% if your shop made over $10k last year). You're automatically enrolled unless you opt out — and you can only opt out if your shop earned less than $10k in the past 12 months.
