the cover image is your entire marketing

On Gumroad's discovery page and Etsy search results, buyers make click decisions based almost entirely on your cover image. It's seen before the title, before the price, before any description. Treat it accordingly.

what to show on the cover

  • The actual product — file listing, code screenshot, spreadsheet, PDF mockup
  • The number that matters — "61 snippets", "100 prompts", "12 templates"
  • One clear benefit — not five bullet points, one statement

the 5-image gallery structure

  1. Cover — what it is and the key number
  2. Contents — show the actual files, folder structure, or screenshot
  3. Proof — comparison ($362/mo in apps vs $19 one-time), or before/after
  4. How it works — three steps to get value
  5. CTA — price, trust badges, platform tag

visual consistency

Use one font, one accent colour, and one background across all five images. Inconsistent design signals that the product itself might be inconsistent. Match your brand identity — buyers notice when the preview images don't match the actual files they receive.

size requirements

Gumroad recommends 1280×720 (16:9). Etsy requires minimum 1000px on the shorter side, with 2000px recommended. Create one master size and crop for each platform. Always render at 2× for retina displays.
